Rapaport: New Auction House Set to Highlight Colored Gemstones

Industry veteran Dev Shetty has launched a new auction house for high-value gemstones that aims to bridge the gap between owners and buyers.

Dubai-based Jemora Gemhouse will feature stones certified by leading labs, which will be curated to potential buyers. Shetty, who is the former chief operating officer of colored-gemstone miner Gemfields and the founder and former CEO of Fura Gems, will lead the company, it said Thursday.

The inaugural sale, which will take place from March 17 to 19 at the Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE), will feature a collection of Kashmir, Madagascar and Sri Lankan sapphires in different categories such as blue, pink, padparadschas and yellow. The company plans to feature other gemstones, including rubies, emeralds, alexandrites, Paraiba tourmaline and spinels, in future auctions, it noted.

“For years, the industry has needed a specialized platform to showcase premium colored gems to the right audience, bypassing the constraints of traditional auction houses,” said Shetty. “Jemora Gemhouse fulfills this demand by connecting sellers directly with buyers, ensuring that the finest gemstones achieve their true market value.”
